Position Description - Technical Director

Purpose of the position

To provide leadership in the on-field development and management to players and coaches in the Talented Player Pathway within the Caroline Springs George Cross FC and Northwest region. This direction should follow the philosophy and curriculum of the State Technical Director whilst be sufficiently flexible to cater for any unique needs and circumstances which may exist within the club with the key focus on building the capabilities of the U14 to the U18 Junior boys NPL, Mini Roo, Community and Female teams and the respective coaches.


Responsibilities & Duties

• Support the Caroline Springs George Cross FC football operations, coaches and managers to develop and implement a football development plan and playing model for all age groups.

• Develop and implement coaching standards, roles and responsibilities and professional support and development pathways for the coaching and playing groups.

• To play a key role in the appointment and management of the activities of the NPL & Community team coaches. In conjunction with these coaches, oversee the selection of these respective teams

• Prepare and coordinate and execute the preseason trial process within FV and club timeframes

• Observe, analyse and provide feedback to youth coaches from training sessions

• Observe, analyse and provide feedback to youth coaches from weekly NPL & Community fixtures as well as from friendly/preparation matches

• Organize regular coach education programs for the club coaches (minimum twice a season)

• To establish and monitor talented player programs for players in the Mini Roos, Discovery Phase and Skills Acquisition phase as underpinning programs to the NPL

• Establish and maintain strong professional relationships and communication with all stakeholders, including but not limited to FV and clubs

• Establish a communication strategy with community clubs, developing coaching pathways and performances measures in conjunction with these bodies and provide advice and support on coaching matters

• Establish and deliver Skills Acquisition programs on weekends run term to term (not limited to George Cross Players)

• Establish and deliver school holiday program during the Victorian school holidays (not limited to George Cross Players)

• To ensure a consistent approach is taken to the development of talented players and Coaches

• To establish a solid foundation of female participation both playing and coaching

• To ensure the club has a balance of participation in community football and NPL.

• To build a support network within the club to deliver outcomes


Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour Required


• AFC B license or FFA recognised equivalent

• Knowledge, understanding and experience working in the area of talented player/coach development

• Experience in the establishment and ongoing management of coach/athlete development programs

• Experience in a coaching development

• High level communication skills, particularly presentation skills

• Ability to provide leadership and direction

• Strong Administration skills

• Ability to communicate well with key stakeholders in particular coaches and parents

Working Hours

• Full Time 38hrs per week

• Weekends

• Flexible working hours


Scope of Role:

• JBNPL (4 Squads)

• Mini Roos (15 squads)

• Community Boys (10)

• Female Program (6)


Skill Acquisition Academy – Term to Term

Requirement: (Build and execute)

• Weekend Program

• 1 Morning and 1 Afternoon session

• 30 players per session min


Georgies Little Legends Program

Requirement: (Already established – Maintain, Oversee and support coaches in ongoing delivery)


School Holiday Program

Requirement: (Build and execute)

• 3 Terms (2 weeks of each term break)

• 1 Morning and 1 Afternoon session

• 15 players per session

• 1 coach per session plus TD

• 4-day program x2
